There are some medications within PowerChart that have been flagged as High Alert medications. When searching for these medications they will always appear at the end of the search, they will also appear red, with a high alert icon and the words “High Alert” preceding the medication name. Some of these medications include Potassium Chloride and clonazepam. To order these medications click on the red text.
A High Alert message will pop up. Click Continue to order the medication or Cancel to stop ordering the medication. This alert is for information only, it appears to act as a warning to ensure you, as the prescriber has chosen the correct medication. High Alerts have been applied to medications according to SCHN Medication Safety Committee advice.
The High Alert icon is displayed on the Orders paged.
High Alert does NOT show face up on the MAR, it only appears in the order search when prescribing the medication.
