Under the Medication Handling in NSW Public Health Facilities policy directive, remaining S8 medications after administration must be disposed of appropriately with a witness.
Once it is clinically decided that the patient does not require any more of the pain protocol, to document the remaining dose that was discarded post administration:
- Click on the medication task tile
- Click Not Given and select S8 discard post-administration from the Reason drop down list
- Click on Comment and type in what was discarded e.g. See below image
- Enter in the Witness By (Note: the witness that was entered in the comments must match the Witness By as per policy)
- Click green tick to sign
- Enter Passwords for both witness and nurse logged in. The result will now appear on the MAR after refresh
- To find out more information about the results, Right Click over the Not given result and select View Details
- Click on the comments tabs
