- Click orders
- Open Metabolic Infusion Folder
- Select required infusion
- The Dosage Calculator will appear for all additives and the diluent.
- The set doses can be modified in this screen if needed by adjusting the Target dose field
- Note: Metabolic Infusions do not have drug-allergy or drug-drug interaction checking
- Click OK to continue
- The Order ScratchPad will open to the Continuous Details Tab.
- Complete the required details: The infuse over time (in hrs) - the rate will auto-calculate once the above details are entered
- Go to Details Tab
- Enter indication
- Sign order
- The orderable will appear on the MAR within the continuous Infusion segment of the MAR
Notes:
- Load Infusions should be discontinued when completed
- Modifications to rates or additives in Continuous Infusions is done via the prescription of a NEW order. The current/old order needs to be discontinued to remove it from the MAR and avoid confusion.
