Tracheostomy Care is charted in iView under Lines-Tubes-Drains

 

Label the Tracheostomy tube

  • Click 1   on the menu
  • Click on the Lines-Tubes-Drains band and select Tracheostomy Care. This populates a Tracheostomy Care section on the right side.

  • Click on the grid icon to Add a Dynamic Group dyn grp icon

  • Label the Tracheostomy tube by making selections from brand, cuffed type and tube size
  • Scroll if required to view all tube size options

  • Click OK
  • A label and related charting fields will populate for the Tracheostomy tube

Add documentation

Navigate to the relevant time column and enter the appropriate information. The most recent column is on the left of iView. Scroll to the right to see earlier entries.

  • Unchart data
  • Add and View Comments
  • Create a specific date/time column

 

Tips on charting tracheostomy care

Insert dates

  • Eg for Original insertion date and Tube in-situ (last changed) date
  • Click into the field and then click down arrow to populate a calendar. Select date.

  • Alternatively, type "t" to insert today's date 

 

Conditional fields

  • Responses to fields with cf may trigger additional fields for charting
  • Selecting Yes for Dressing populates additional fields relating to dressing.
  • Selecting Capping for Communication populates a field for capping duration

Inactivate and Unchart the Tracheostomy tube

  • See iView Dynamic Group  quickstart for steps to inactivate (chart removal) or unchart the Tracheostomy tube (if charted on wrong patient)

 

Review the Tracheostomy tube in Nursing View 

The label for the Tracheostomy tube will appear in the Lines, Tubes, Drains and Wounds component of Nursing View 

  • Click on nv  in the menu 

  • Navigate to Lines, Tubes, Drains and Wounds

  • View the tube charted and First Charted date/time
