Clinicians may use the Tag function in Documentation to copy information from other clinicians' notes that is still current and applicable to the patient.
The advantage of Tagging text or information is that it clearly shows the original note source of where the text came from.
Tagging Text
1) Start a new note as usual for your designation, choosing the appropriate Note Type and Template.
2) To see previous clinicians' notes, click on the List tab
3) Select the note with the information you require to see a preview the right-hand side
4) To copy the applicable text from this note, highlight the text with your mouse to see the Tag button
5) Click the Tag button, and the Tag icon will now appear at the top of your page, to indicate you have copied the text for later use
- You can click on this Tag icon to preview the text you have Tagged so far.
6) To use what you have Tagged, click back on the tab for the new note that you are writing
7) Any text that you have Tagged will now be seen on the left-hand side.
8) To add this Tagged text to your new note, use your mouse to drag it from the left-hand side to the appropriate section of your note
9) You will now see the Tagged text in that section of your note, along with a reference number that indicates the original note source of the Tagged text
- Reference will be in the form of: Subject heading of the original note; Author of the original note (designation in brackets) and the date and time that the original note was written.
10) Sign/Submit your note as usual once you have utilised the Tagged text you require.
Discarding Tagged text not used
Any Tagged text not used in your note will remain on the left-hand side.
In future when you write a new note, this Tagged text will still appear on the left-hand side, unless you discard it.
- To discard Tagged text, click on the circle with the x, as you hover over the Tagged text section.
