When Medications will be prescribed electronically during the outpatient visit

If a long term ambulatory patient is prescribed and administered medication during the ambulatory  visit, this can be done on paper if urgent, or electronically in PowerChart.

If medication is ordered electronically during an ambulatory visit, an Outpatient encounter must be created to order the medication in PowerChart.

Medication cannot be prescribed on an open Ambulatory Encounter and the following warning will display for the prescriber.
